Tim Head was born in London and grew up in Scarborough, Yorkshire. He studied at Newcastle upon Tyne University and later at St Martin’s School of Art in London. His early works comprised room-sized installations that functioned both as responses to and events within the space. Characteristically Head’s installations involved the use of cameras and projectors, the latter used to impose a photographic transposition on the actual space and so to challenge the threshold between appearance and reality.
