The East African Mobility Project creates opportunities for artists in the region to move across borders. The British Council in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya has collaborated with three arts organisations in East Africa – 32° East (Uganda), Alle School of Fine Arts (Ethiopia) and Kuona Trust (Kenya) – on this residency programme to encourage artists to exchange ideas and discuss new concepts and artworks that could be produced and exhibited across these regions.

Ethiopian artist Eyob Kitaba from the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design in Addis Ababa was in residence for six weeks working on an installation entitled Chess, which was a response to the election climate in Kampala at the time:
Ugandan artist Immy Mali is from Kampala, Uganda. She took part in a residency at the Alle School of Fine Art in Addis Ababa:

The project also aims to generate understanding between Ugandan, East African and British cultural producers by inviting a UK cultural producer to enter into peer-to-peer dialogue with East African art managers in Kampala.
