Sian Tucker (1958 – )
Sian Tucker studied at Middlesex Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art. The works in the collection were painted on finely woven wool with acid dyes. She used traditional motifs in bright, mainly primary colours. Her sources came from non-European styles such as African or American-Indian traditions, but she was also conscious of the strong influence of early 20th century art such as the cut-outs of Matisse.
