Perspectives
Perspectives is a programme of visual arts and literature that promotes and celebrates cultural relations between the UK and Ireland.
The visual arts element of the programme connects four regional art galleries, one from each province in Ireland. Curators from the galleries were invited to curate an exhibition from the British Council Collection: Glebe House and Gallery, Letterkenny; The Model, Sligo; Limerick City Gallery of Art, Limerick; and Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda.
Each of the partner galleries presents an exhibition of works from the Collection between September 2016 and April 2017:
- Babe Rainbow at Glebe House and Gallery is an exhibition that takes its name from Sir Peter Blake’s iconic work from the 1960s, 3 September-30 October 2016
- Ghosts of Other Stories at The Model is an exhibition exploring works within the Collection with an elusive, mysterious or ghostly quality, 16 September-27 November 2016
- In Sense of Place at Highlanes Gallery has been curated by local school students, 26 November 2016-29 January 2017
- The Painting Show at Limerick City Gallery of Art is a group exhibition that demonstrates the richness and vigour of contemporary painting in the UK, 9 February-16 April 2017.
For this exhibition, the galleries in Ireland have shared significant works from their own collections, many of which are being shown for the first time in London.
