NEW VOICES
New Voices was an exhibition of paintings works made by then young artists between 1989 and 1992, and was intended to give a broaf overview of the work of a new generation of British painters. The works were selected by Gill Hedley and Andrea Rose and included 17 recent acquisitions for the British Council collection together with works on loan from the artists, galleries and private collections. For this showing, five sculptures by an older generation of artists from the Collection were added. A catalogue to mark the Presidency was published with an essay by Gill Hedley and comprehensive biographical and bibliographical notes (ISBN 0 86355 142 4); this was subsequently revised for the international tour with an essay by Adrian Searle (ISBN 0 86355 311 7.
