An exhibition of Spencer’s paintings of the tradesman at Lithgow’s Kingston Yard at Port Glasgow undertaken whilst commissioned as an official war artist in the Second World War. The theme of resurrection of the dead runs through Spencer’s work like a leitmotif. It is significant that Spencer made a series of Port Glasgow resurrection paintings at the end of the way, symbolising peace and reconciliation.

A fully illustrated catalogue, with essays by Duncan Thomson, James and Julie Lawson, Andrew Patrizio, Keith Bell and Martin Hammer, was published to accompany the exhibition. ISBN1 903278 08 2
