Summary
The original 6½ gallon teapot was made by Michael Cardew in the early 1940s for use at country house tennis parties. The teapot was included in the first ever British Council crafts exhibition which opened at the Museum of Modern Art, New York in May 1942. This copy was made for the exhibition Time for Tea toured by the British Council from 1997.
