An exhibition of 200 works, drawn from collections in the UK except for one major carving which had been in an Indian collection since the 1930s. One hundred of these exhibits are works on paper made up of 20 drawings and 80 graphics. The remainder is sculptures ranging in size From tiny maquettes to monumental bronzes shown in the gardens surrounding the National Gallery of Modern Art.

Various catalogue were published to accompany the exhibition: in London the publication contained essays by Norbert Lynton, Anis Farooqi and Francis Watson. ISBN 0 86355 059 2 and published under the imprint of the British Council. In India a bi-lingual version (English/Hindi) was published under the imprint of the National Gallery of Modern Art.
