Great & Small: Animals in Craft
AN EXHIBITION FOR ALL THE FAMILY SELECTED FROM THE CRAFTS COUNCIL COLLECTION
Animals have been represented in craft for as long as humans have been making, shaping and creating decorative objects. This exhibition encourages children to explore our age-old fascination with all creatures great and small, with works selected by the Crafts Council Collection to engage young minds with contemporary craft.
Great & Small will show how makers create both functional and beautiful objects, and depict animals in a realistic or abstract way. Children can discover the symbolism of certain animals, how we represent domestic and wild animals, and the techniques that are used in contemporary craft-making.
As well as looking at the objects on display, children can take part in hands-on and interactive activities, including workshops in the Gallery’s Studio space. This accessible, exciting exhibition will engage children in the animal kingdom and inspire them to express their own creativity.
Great & Small is a Crafts Council Touring Exhibition in partnership with Broadway Gallery.
