Summary
“It is my aim to design tableware to suit any home environment for use everyday. The inspiration for each new design, using simple shapes and elegant lines, comes from the enjoyment and presentation of food and my interest in the cultural activities of dining and entertaining.
Each piece is made from the finest white earthenware using the combined techniques of hand throwing and hand building. After the initial biscuit firing each piece is then coated with a high gloss glaze and fired again to enhance the natural colour of the clay and emphasise the surface textures that are formed during the making process.”

Glossary
-
Design
The arrangement of elements or details in an artefact or a work of art.
-
Earthenware
One of the three major types of pottery, the others being stoneware and porcelain. It is opaque, soft and porous unless covered completely with glaze. The firing temperatures can be low - 800ºC or high - 1200ºC, when it starts to vitrify, becoming stoneware.
-
Glaze
Vitreous coatings applied to pottery to make objects watertight and as a form of decoration. Also a glaze can be a thin, translucent or transparent coating applied to the surface of a painting to modify the colour tones. Glazes may also be applied on top of one another as a means of creating a sense of depth and translucency.
