ANGELS IN THE STUDIO: THE WOMEN OF THE SLADE
The Slade School of Art, London, was one of the most pioneering art schools for women from the nineteenth century. It gave rise to some of the most important and and influential artists of the past 100 years.
To highlight many past pupils and tutors, some famous, others less so today, the Gallery will be staging an exhibition which will feature works by artists such as Dora Carrington, Gwen John, Ethel Walker, Paula Rego, Sylvia Goss and Chila Burman. The exhibition will highlight the work of Dora Carrington who lived and was educated in Bedford, and went on to be part of the Bloomsbury group.
