4th International Art Exhibition
British Section consisted of fifteen paintings: three works by each by Alan Davie, Terry F rost, Ben Nicholson, Graham Sutherland and Bryan Wynter. The exhibition opened in the Metropolitan Art Museum, 'l'okyo, on 23rd May. It closed there on 16th June, having been seen by 70,000 people. The exhibition subsequently toured to seven cities ending in Nagoya in November 1957. The Foreign Minister’s Ward was won by Graham Sutherland. The awards were given to Pierre Soulages, Fritz Winter, Sam Francis and Anton Lehmden
