The pieces are slip cast bone-china, individually decorated. The models are turned on a then carved by hand to introduce twists and facets. Flatter shapes are achieved by running plaster onto surface before carving. The moulds are cast very thinly to enhance translucency then fired to 1260ºC. Some of the pieces are decorated before firing by means of stained slip sections laid into the mould prior to casting. Others are decorated using an air brush through a series of retreating masks and fired a second time. Finally they are polished by hand to achieve an eggshell finish.
