Summary

Described by The Times in 2009 as “Britain's first lady of folk”, despite being born in California. She arrived in England aged 25, hitch-hiking with a duffel bag and a guitar, and became the first solo folk artist to be signed to a British record label. She balanced music with humanitarian work for Christian Aid, before becoming the resident singer on David Frost's show 'The Frost Report'. She now lives in Hertfordshire, England and at the time of writing, she is still recording and performing songs. She is also still active in anti-war and equal rights protests, for which she has always been a fervent advocate.
