Mary Rose Young was born in Thame, Oxfordshire and studied at Cheltenham College of Art and later at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. Her characteristic hallmark is a rose which climbs over teapots, mugs and vases and into the occasional milk jug, transforming the most functional objects into irrepressibly witty and good humoured works of art.
