Adam Thorpe and Joe Hunter were Vexed Generation. Neither had formal fashion training. Thorpe studied Microbiology at Kingston University and Hunter graduated as a graphic designer at Middlesex in 1990, but together they created a label which epitomised the attitudes of a number of designers who eschewed the culture of the catwalk. Vexed Generation had powerful political convictions which led them to design solutions to social problems as well as fashionable clothes.
