Robert Tavener was born in London and studied at Hornsey College of Art; he became Deputy Head of Graphic Design at Eastbourne school of Art. In addition to his work for London Transport, other clients included the BBC, Shell and ICI, he also illustrated children’s books for Longman’s green and the Oxford University Press. He was a member of the Senefelder Group.
