Jessie Tait trained at Burslem School of Art and joined the pottery company W R Midwinter in 1946 as their resident designer. Midwinter became synonymous with fashionable tableware from the 1950s until their closure in 1987. Tait’s patterns had an immediate and lasting appeal, the Cherokee pattern continued in production well into the 1960s.
