Howard Raybould (1946 – )
Howard Raybould was born London; he studied sculpture at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, London. He worked in Quebec pine in a centuries old tradition of popular wood craving as applied to objects for use; this was the tradition that produced ‘treen’ – ship’s figure-heads, carved and painted shop and pub signs, toys and the like. His work demonstrates a spontaneity and directness.
