Cox designed murals and posters receiving commissions from London Underground, and the Empire Marketing Board amongst others. He undertook illustrations for number books, favouring historic and heroic adventures. Cox was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1915 and exhibited at most of the leading art venues.
