Summary
Paolozzi produced several versions of this screenprint, photo-mechanically re-creating his original collage of different machine parts taken from trade catalogues. This print, and also the experimental ‘wet’ proof of Motor Figure (P308), were printed by the artist in 1958 and are closely aligned to his sculpture of the same period which incorporated machine parts embedded into surfaces. Both were finally editioned in 1962 at Kelpra Studio, London.

Collage
The two-dimensional form of assemblage made by affixing paper, card, photographs, fabric and other objects to a flat surface. It is often combined with painting and drawing techniques. This technique was first introduced by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in 1912 during their phase of synthetic cubism.
