The Madrid regional government in cooperation with the British Council presents the exhibition Things/Cosas by the British artist Martin Creed at the Sala Alcalá 31.

Martin Creed (Wakefield, England, 1968) is one of the most interesting international artists of his generation, whose cross discipliary art practice includes forays intomusic and dance. He has participated in many exhibitions throughout the world and in 2001 won the Turner Prize with his work entitled Work No. 227 The lights going on and off.

Things/Cosas is his first one-man show in Madrid and the exhibition looks back over the twenty years of his artistic career. Creed will be exhibiting work created for the occasion, including a new mural, together with well-known pieces which have never before been exhibited in Spain.

Creed is constantly exploring the basic nature of things, creating a world of unexpected classifications, categories and exceptions. His sculptures, installations, videos and sketches are inspired by everyday objects, words and sounds.
