Summary

The return of the return of the Durutti Column is part of the Screenportfolio. The title derives from the revolutionary anarchist Buenaventura Durutti, who was involved in the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s, In 1936 he led a column of 6,000 men (hence Durutti Column) to liberate the city of Saragossa. The image was reappropriated from a French student poster and the French ‘bubble’ speech translated into English. In keeping with the idea of covert planning and night manoeuvres the work is printed in luminous inks and only reveals itself when the lights are dimmed
