Summary
Kitty Greywas a musical comedy in three acts adapted from the French operetta The New Amsterdam by J W Piggott nd with lyrics by Adrian Ross (ne Arthur Reed Ropes). Ross contributed to the success of the Gaiety and Daly’s Theatres and later worked with George Edwardes in bringing European operettas to England, including The Merry Widow. The plot of Kitty Grey is slight and centres on Kitty Grey, an actress, and the advice she gives to a straitlaced wife to keep her husband’s love. The advice is taken and all ends happily.
