Summary
The models for this work were Hubby and Marie. Hubby, who had reportedly led a colourful life at sea, began working for Sickert as an odd-job man in 1911 but was dismissed in 1914 for arriving at work drunk. Marie Hayes modelled on several occasions for Sickert. This print related to paintings of the same title in the collection of the Tate www.tate.org.uk and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford www.ashmol.ox.ac.ukand was printed in three versions.
