Summary
Josiah Wedgwood and Sons began their relationship with Ravilious following an introduction from a fellow Royal College student, Cecilia Dunbar Kilburn (later Lady Sempill). The Garden service of 1938 used Wedgwood Queen's Ware shapes that dated from the 1790s. The pieces have a common border design of twisting threads, and a range of vignettes decorate the centre. The dinner service was reissued in 1952 with a gold wash border.
