Summary

The scene here shows the innocent undergraduate John Ruskin wandering along the river bank surrounded by amorous couples, but all Ruskin can think about is Adèle Domecq, with whom he considered himself in love. Adèle is laid out in a punt in the style of the Pre-Raphaelite painting of Ophelia by Millais (Tate Collection a href="http://www.tate.org.uk/">www.tate.org.uk. Those not engaged in the pursuit of love are full of the high jinx and pranks or Orr childhood image of Oxford as one long student rag.
