Summary
Throughout the 1990s Tyson worked through the propositions and strategies, the iterations generated by the Art Machine, an obscure mechanism designed to produce instructions for the artist to follow. Whilst this would free the artist from the tedious effort of generating ideas and worrying about how to implement them; it would leave a curator with the chore of assembling them together in an exhibition. The artist here proposes a solution: using chalk on blackboard he proposes a formula equating size, mass and molecular structure of an art work to distance and time. The art work is then teleported from place to place without the need for expensive packing cases or transport.
