Summary
‘My approach is fundamental in nature, focusing on some of the essential qualities of making, using and enjoying physical things. I enjoy working with materials and objects that call out to be handled as well as appreciated visually. The reclaimed wood that I use has often been dumped and left like litter in the environment for some time before I retrieve it. Much of this wood which has been discarded is perfectly serviceable and since being left, exposed to natural weathering, it has developed a range of textural and colour characteristics which interest me. My designs, craft processes and material choices are all a result of my thinking about essence rather than excess.’
