Annie Sherburne studied textiles at Goldsmiths College and for a time was better known as a felt-maker, a field in which she experimented widely. She worked with the fashion designer Jean Muir designing hats, buttons and accessories. The jewellery in the collection uses a wood base, intricately painted with bright enamels and ornamented with spangles and diamanté. Some of the pieces were influenced by visits to Australia and India, and others by the rhythm and geometry of dance movements.
