Moore made two lithographs of hands in 1973 of the chemist and Nobel prizewinner Professor Dorothy Hodgkin, whose fortitude and courage in overcoming her arthritic condition whilst carrying out deliocate experiemenst on x-ray crystallography had amazed him. He returned to his own hands in 1979 with two etchingings and three lithographs for The Artist’s Hand Portfolio (P5206-P5210).
