This print was proofed by the artist in the Royal College of Art print studios. The title is taken from a poem by C P Cavafy (1863-1933)¹ Alexandrian Kings (1912)

Kaisarion was standing a little forward,
Dressed in pink tinted silk,
on his dress a garland of hyacinths,
his belt a double row of sapphires and amethysts,
his shows were tied with white ribbons
embroidered with rose coloured pearls
