Leonard Beaumont (1891 – 1986)
Leonard Beaumont was born in Sheffield; whilst working for a local newspaper he attended evening classes at Sheffield School of Art. He began making prints in the 1920s: mainly lino cuts and etchings. He was design consultant to Sainsbury’s from 1950 to 1964. Beaumont exhibited etchings at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, and a retrospective exhibition of his work was held at Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield in 1983. His work displays the influence of the Vorticists.
