Summary
The poster was commissioned by the Labour Party for the 1970 General Election. They wanted the incumbent Tory Party to be shown as tired old men. Aldridge created plasticine models of Edward Heath and six members of his cabinets ‘looking mean and nasty’[1]. The poster caused an immediate furore, with some newspaper considering it the worst smear campaign in the history of politics.
