Born in Aden in 1952, Verdi Yahooda is an artist, living and working in London, whose photographic works address issues of cultural history, identity and family rituals.
Yahooda studied at East Ham Technical College, London, then Goldsmiths and finally completed an MA in Photography at the Royal College of Art in 1977.
She has exhibited regularly in group exhibitions and her significant solo presentations include Window Dressing(1988) The Photographer’s Gallery, London and the rest is shifting sands (2003) an constantly evolving body of work from which the piece The Mantelpiece and Its Thirty Six Objects is drawn. With assistance from the British Council this exhibition was shown at the Kibbutz Gallery, Tel-Aviv and The Ein Harod Museum, Israel.
Yahooda has published several artist’s editions to accompany her exhibitions and received the Multiexposure Photographic Award in 1993.
Her career as a professional lecturer has spanned 20 years and includes posts as a visiting lecturer at Central St. Martins, De Montfort University. Leicester; Falmouth College of Arts, Goldsmiths College, Royal College of Art and Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford.
Since 1993 she has held the post of Part-time Associate Professor at The American Intercontinental University, London.
