Summary

I was one of several artists commissioned to produce a multiple for a touring Arts Council exhibition of multiples from the 60s – 90s titled ‘Art Unlimited’. The work was inspired by my previous work Watertable – a full size billiard table sunk into the floor of Matt’s Gallery, in London, with a 4 inch drainpipe passing down through the table and into the London clay and watertable. (This) Watertable is a 7" vinyl single 45 rpm which has acquired an unconventional hole drilled through the grooves – not at the centre, making it virtually unplayable – not dissimilar to my sculpture, again an unplayable billiard table, for it had four metres of concrete waterpipe going through it. This record is a record of that work. The record was pressed with the sound of water gurgling at the bottom of the pipe.
