This exhibition was curated by Richard Riley and concentrated on Paolozzi’s work on paper over five decades. Collage had always been an abiding interest of the artist and the exhibition opened with a group of collages made when the artist was still a student at the Slade School of Art in the 1940s. Through the reworking of themes and motifs, the exhibition traced the development of Paolozzi’s ideas over a period of 50 years, closing with a series of screenprint and related collages made in the 1990s. The works were drawn from the artist’s own collection and that of the British Council. A fully illustrated catalogue with a note by the artist, an essay by Dr Judith Collins and detailed notes by the curator was published to accompany the exhibition. ISBN 0 863555 346 X.
