This exhibition of 20th century painting of the British coastline was mounted to mark the UK Presidency of the European Council of Ministers in 1992. Artists included David Bomberg, Jeffery Camp, Richard Eurich, Charles Ginner, Ben Nicholson, Winifred Nicholson, Stanley Spencer, Graham Sutherland, Alfred Wallis, Christopher Wood and Laetitia Yhap and the coastal scenes depicted stretched from Cornwall in the South West of England to the Isle of Uist in the Western Isles. The works were drawn from regional collections and from the British Council collection. A boxed card set, with an introductory card describing the geological, environmental and political importance of the British coastlines and verses from John Masefield’s poem Sea-Fever, accompanied the exhibition. The card box was printed with a pattern paper designed by Sarah Nechamkin for the Curwen Press, 1950. ISBN 0 86355 138 6
