100 Years of Art in Britain was an exhibition to celebrate the centenary of Leeds City Art Gallery. 101 works were on display, one each from the years 1888 to 1988. Rather than taking a predictable route through the history of modern art movements, the exhibition uncovered new and unexpected relationships between disparate items: from well-known Victorianand edwardian favourites to paintings and scupure by some 'moderns' and 'post-moderns' of the '80s, including Moore, Mondrian, Spencer, Freud, Hockney, Gilbert and George and Susan Hiller.
