Last November, the British Council Arts Team in Indonesia welcomed eight curators from across the UK to take part in a week-long artistic programme.

Curators from Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, Whitstable and London were introduced to the Indonesian arts scene and had the chance to meet and engage with local communities, artist collectives, alternative spaces as well as the social and political contexts influencing Indonesian artistic practices.

The delegation visited key institutions including the Museum Macan, Kota Tua Museum and Galleries and the Indonesia National Gallery along with two major events in the Indonesian arts calendar: the Jakarta Biennale and the Yogya Biennale.
