An exhibition of 22 sculptures drawn from the Collections of the British Council and the Calouste Gulbenkian Collection. At the time this exhibition was mounted the Gulbenkian Foundation had allocated £10,000 to the British Council ‘for the purchase of contemporary British art, with the accent on younger artists’. These works were placed in the care of the British Council for use in support of its activities until such time as the new Gulbenkian Galleries in Lisbon were completed. A bi-lingual (English/Arabic) catalogue, with short biographical essays on each artist, was published to accompany the show. No ISBN number.
Artists: Robert Adams, Kenneth Armitage, Lyn Chadwick, Hubert Dalwood, Barbara Hepworth, Bernard Meadows, Henry Moore and Eduardo Paolozzi.
The showing in Cairo was part of the festivities marking the Cairo Millenary.
