An exhibition of 90 drawings selected by Professor Norbert Lynton. The exhibition originated in 1975 and continued touring until 1990; it was accompanied by an illustrated catalogue with an essay by Professor Lynton and brief biographical notes on the artists. The exhibition made no attempt to be representative of what was happening at the time, but explored the notion of ‘drawing’: works included fully fledged paintings on paper, developed studies towards specific works in another medium and on another scale, initial graphic investigations as part pf a programme of research that occasionally resulted in a related work, sketches and elaborately worked done for their own sakes.
