William Wilson was born in Edinburgh. He studied at Edinburgh School of Art and at the Royal College of Art, London. Wilson produced some 30 etchings and engravings during the 1930s, mostly of Scottish scenes. In addition he undertook designs for stained glass windows, opening a studio in Edinburgh in 1937 and creating works for churches and cathedrals in Britain and Europe.
