Donald Urquhart is a multi disciplinary artist born in Scotland in 1963. During the 80s he collaborated with legendary performance artist Leigh Bowery and in the 1990s became well know as the man behind the high camp cabaret night, The Beautiful Bend. Urquhart’s darkly humorous pen and ink drawings formed the flyers, illustrated booklets, and posters for this club and several exhibitions of these drawings took place in London.
Following Bowery’s death Urquhart was involved in organising an exhibition entitled Take a Bowery: The Art and (larger than) Life of Leigh Bowery, for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia.
He was nominated for the Beck’s Futures Award in 2005 and continues to perform as a musician, poet and artist in London.
