Summary

Rock's first commercially successful supergroup, all three members of Cream were in renowned blues and R&B bands in the 1960s. They only made four albums together, but carved out a niche for themselves, becoming very influential in many different rock sub-genres. The progressive rock of Rush and the heavy metal of Black Sabbath both took note from Cream's jam-based live shows and tightly constructed albums. After their final album 'Goodbye', Eric Clapton went onto have a very successful career as a solo artist. Bassist Jack Bruce had a long career collaborating with other artists such as Lou Reed and Ringo Starr, while drummer Ginger Baker travelled to Africa to make music with Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.
