Lennox Patterson studied at Glasgow School of Art and later became a lecturer in graphic design and Deputy Director of the school. He was mostly known for his book illustrations which included Poetical Worksby Robert Burns (Chambers, 1958). He also compiled two manuals: Scraperboard (Dryad, 1960) and Making a Colour Linocut (Dryad, 1963).
