Born in 1951, Graham Ibbeson has worked as a professional sculptor since 1978. He studied at Barnsley School of Art in the late 60’s and later completed an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art.
He has completed many public commissions and is best known for his memorials to popular public figures including Laurel and Hardy (Ullveston, Cumbria, 2004) and Eric Morecambe (Morecambe, Lancs. 1999).
Many of his works have a humorous, cartoonish quality, reminiscent of imagery from 1950’s seaside postcards and cartoons.
His drawings are sculptures are represented in several public collections including The British Museum, The London Toy Museum and the V&A.
