Geraldine St Aubyn Hubbard studied at Goldsmiths College, London and West Sussex College of Art and Design. Her work is mostly in cashmere, silk and wood yarns and reveals an influence of Islamic and Indian textiles. She painted from her earliest years and is very much affected by the plants and landscapes of the surrounding countryside. She decided to weave full time, attracted by the use of colour, texture and rich handle of cloth. She is stimulated by the balance and rhythmic quality of pattern, structure and stripes. Colour proportion, texture, rhythm, balance, strength and simplicity are all considered in the designing of the cloths. These rely on simple structures, delicate colours and contrasting textures of yarns to produce the desired quality of fabric which is very much intended to be worn.
