Summary

In this photographic print angelic-looking children, tiny figures with a garden of splendid flowers and foliage confront a large and decidedly dead bird. This digital collage of appropriated images suggests a narrative both mysterious and shocking. It could have something to do with the fairies at the bottom of the garden but instead the title refers us to a macabre children’s nursery rhyme. Collishaw’s work abounds in ambiguity and in particular the sinister goings on lurking behind scenes of apparent beauty.

Who killed Cock Robin?
“I”, said the Sparrow,
“With my bow and arrow,
I killed Cock Robin.”
