Allin Braund was born in 1915 in Northam, Devon, and studied at Bideford School of Art and at Hornsey School of Art where he later taught. He worked as a teacher also at Middlesex Polytechnic retiring in 1976 to fully commit to painting.

He exhibited in several venues including Redfern Gallery, St George’s Gallery, RA and many others. He was included in the 1954 Venice Biennale along with Freud, Bacon, Moore, Paolozzi, Richards and Scott. Many collections include examples of his works including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Arts Council and the British Council.
